Internet Can’t Cope With Note Previous Homeowners Left New Buyers: ‘Sorry’

Moving into a new home comes with its own stresses, especially if you find more work has to be done on the property than you initially expected.

But one previous homeowner has tried, in their own way, to reassure the new owners of a property by leaving a note explaining what had caused a rather worrying stain on the carpet.

While the internet is full of creepy stories of undiscovered rooms or sinister-looking stains, a video shared by moving company @dreamteammoversltd showed all mysteries being straightened out immediately.

The clip, shared on August 7, has 193,000 views. It takes the viewer down a hallway before zooming up on a post-it note that has been left on the ground.

Stuck to the carpet over a deep brown stain, it reads: “Sorry – it’s fake tan!”

The removals company wrote: “Imagine buying this house. And they left notes like this.”

TikTok users were tickled by the clip, with one writing: “Least they left a note. I had a rug hiding hair straightener burns, I felt bad when we moved out.”

“Reassuring it’s not a skid stain,” another wrote, with one agreeing, “just in case you thought it was…” along with a poop emoji. The moving company replied: “So true, we do see it all.”

While moving house can often be stressful, there are things people can do to lessen the impact. An article from Psychology Today recommends beginning the process as early as possible, particularly if hiring professional movers; cleaning your home while listening to music; and setting up your new house with your favorite decorations immediately, to make it feel like home.

People newly moving into a property can sometimes find notes from the previous owners or tenants. Some are heartfelt, with one card wishing a young couple the same love they had found in their family home.

Others can be purely practical, as one woman left multiple notes explaining everything from how to use the ice maker to suggestions on using extra space.

In one case, a new homeowner would have appreciated an explanatory note from the previous owners after she found what looked like large bloodstains under the flooring, even calling the police to have it checked out—where it was thankfully found to more likely be a “paint like substance.@
