Massive explosions are occurring across Israel in an unprecedented attack from Iranian territory. Air raid sirens sound throughout Israel, including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. In response to the recent attack on the Iranian consulate in the capital of Syria, Tehran launched this direct attack on Israel late on Sunday (April 14).
The Israeli military ordered residents of high-risk areas to stay close to bomb shelters. Al Jazeera reported this information on Sunday.
Iran has launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, and air raid sirens and explosions can be heard in cities across Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, the media said.
Meanwhile, Jordanian forces are also working with Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom to shoot down the missiles and drones launched from Iran.
Tehran said it carried out the attack in response to an Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria. The country also said the matter could now be 'considered closed'.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military ordered residents of high-risk areas to stay close to bomb shelters.
The Israeli military issued a warning, saying residents of the occupied Golan Heights, Navatim, Dimona and Eilat must stay “close to protected areas until further notice”.
Nevatim is the location of an Israeli airbase. Israel has a nuclear reactor on the outskirts of Dimona. Eilat is Israel's southern port city on the Red Sea. The city has been repeatedly attacked by Yemen's Houthis during the ongoing war in Gaza.
On the other hand, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations has requested an urgent meeting of the organization's Security Council. Al Jazeera reports that Israel's UN ambassador, Gilad Erdan, has formally written to the president of the Security Council for an emergency meeting on Iran's drone strikes against Israel.
In the letter, Erdan said, “Iran's attack is a serious threat to world peace and security and I hope the Council will use all means to take firm action against Iran.”
In this situation, the UN Security Council meeting will be held on Sunday afternoon. Malta, the current president of the United Nations Security Council, said that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold an emergency meeting on Sunday at 4 pm local time in New York.
The meeting was called shortly after a formal request by the Israeli envoy to the United Nations for an emergency meeting on Iran's drone strikes against Israel.
Incidentally, on April 1, Israel attacked the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria and killed some military officers. Iran has been warning one after another to take revenge for this incident.
