Israel confiscated 800 hectares of occupied West Bank. Israeli authorities reported this information on Friday. Through this, Israel occupied the most land in the West Bank in the last few decades.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declared the area of the northern Jordan Valley as 'state land'.
The Israeli settlement watchdog Peace Now said the area seized was the largest since the 1993 Oslo accords and “signals a 2024 peak in state land declarations.”
In the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, Israel occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
Smotrich said, 'Although there are those in Israel and the world who want to undermine our rights over the Judea and Samaria region and the country in general, we continue to promote settlements throughout the country through hard work and strategy.'
Incidentally, settlements in the Palestinian territories are illegal under international law. But Israel has never ignored international law.
