Jasmine Crockett Of Texas Labeled Democrat Superstar After DNC Speech

Jasmine Crockett has been hailed as a Democrat superstar after her speech at the Democratic National Convention on its opening night on Monday in Chicago.

The Texas politician and lawyer used her speech to slam Donald Trump in a comparison of his career to Kamala Harris’, before concluding with an emotional story about her first encounter with the vice president.

Crockett, who represents Texas’s 30th congressional district in Congress, started her speech by “comparing their resumes,” pointing out that Kamala Harris had “worked at McDonald’s while she was at college in an HBCU,” while Trump “was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and helped his daddy in the family business.”

The Kamala Harris campaign posted the clip on X, formerly Twitter, along with the caption, “Jasmine Crockett just demolished Donald Trump for being born with a spoon in a mouth and still being a criminal fraudster. Donald Trump is exactly who shouldn’t be representing hardworking Americans. Retweet so all Americans see this.”

The clip received over 350,000 views and 19,000 likes, and many responses highlighted her talent and charisma.

One user described her as a “superstar,” adding that she “slayed with biting criticism of Donald Trump and a movingly emotional speech tonight at the DNC Convention,” and received 12,000 likes. Other labeled her the “future of the DNC” and predicted a huge future influence on Texas politics.

Various other moments from Crockett’s speech also circulated on social media along with praise for the politician. In particular footage of her recalling her first encounter with the vice president drew a lot of attention on social media.

“As I approached Vice President Harris for our official photo, she turned to me asked, ‘What’s wrong?’ Mind you, we’d never met. But she saw right through me, she saw the distress. I immediately began crying.”

Crockett appeared to grow emotional before adding, “The most powerful woman in the world wiped my tears and listened.”

Fanning herself as the tears started building, she continued, “She then said, among other things, you are exactly where God wants you. Your district chose you because they believe in you, and so do I.”

Crocket, 43, originally from Missouri, attended law school in Houston before becoming a public defender and forming her own law firm specializing in criminal defense and civil rights, according to the Texas Tribune.

She’s gone viral in the past, most notably in May when she clashed with Marjorie Taylor Greene during a congressional hearing and used the phrase “bleached blonde, bad-built, butch body,” seemingly in reference to her appearance.

The DNC continues to run at Union Center in Chicago, Illinois, until August 22.
