Jessore Sadar Upazila Election postponed

Jessore Sadar Upazila Parishad elections have been postponed by the Election Commission. Thursday (May 23) Deputy Secretary of the Election Commission. This information was informed in the letter signed by Atiyar Rahman.

In the letter, it is said that in the 3rd phase of the 6th Upazila Parishad held on May 29 Sadar Upazila Parishad election, Mr. Md. When Shaharul Islam filed a writ petition to declare the nomination paper valid in the High Court Division, the High Court Division issued an order on May 13. Shaharul ordered Islam to participate in the elections and allocate symbols in his favor.

Later, when the Election Commission filed CPLA No. 1713/2024 in the Appellate Division against this order of the High Court, a 'no-order' was given in the order dated 20 May 2024.

In this situation, in view of the reality, the Election Commission has decided to suspend the election of all the posts of the Jessore Sadar Upazila Parishad General Election to be held on May 29 until further instructions are given for the implementation of this order of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
