PBI has arrested two people for their involvement in the murder of Jubo League leader Zillur Rahman Shimul in Jessore. PBI Superintendent of Police Reshma Sharmin confirmed this on Friday (March 22).
Meanwhile, the body of Jubo League leader Zillur was taken to Gobila from Jessore General Hospital mortuary on Friday. When the body reaches there, a heartbreaking scene unfolds. The atmosphere of the village became heavy with the cries of relatives including mother, wife, children and brothers of the deceased. At this time neighbors and party colleagues also broke down in tears. Later after the funeral, Zillur was buried.
Earlier, Zillur was returning home on the back of Amir Hussain's bicycle on Thursday night. When they reached near the house, local residents Naeem (27) and Bulbul (50) blocked the way and attacked Zillur from behind with sharp weapons. At that time the local people came forward with the shouts of the bicycle driver Amir and Zillur. They rescued Zillur and took him to Jessore General Hospital. The doctor on duty in the emergency department of the hospital declared Zillur dead. The emergency department doctor said that he died before reaching the hospital.
Rakib, the brother of the deceased, said that it was a political murder. Bulbul, Sajeeb and Naeem had earlier threatened to kill Zillur for being vocal against injustice and oppression in the area.
Nasreen, the wife of the deceased, said that people known in the area killed him (Zillur). Only, her husband had to die because of politics. His 3 daughters were orphaned by the terrorists of the party opponents. Saying this he burst into tears.
Chairman of Churamankathi Union Parishad Daud Hossain Dafadar said that the deceased youth is my relative. He was hacked to death by miscreants. He had to be killed on his way home from Gobila Bazar. I demand the arrest and punishment of those involved in this incident.
PBI Jessore Superintendent of Police Reshma Sharmin said, yesterday, Thursday, March 21, immediately after the murder, we started the investigation. The investigation revealed the direct involvement of Naeem and Bulbul. Naeem and Bulbul were arrested from Abdullahpur in Dhaka on Friday morning.
