Khaleda Zia is going to USA for treatment

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in the capital for more than one month. Meanwhile, his physical condition has improved somewhat. However, as he is not fully recovered, it is also known that the initial decision has been taken to take him to the United States for better treatment.

On behalf of BNP, it is being said that before Khaleda Zia was treated abroad, the main obstacle was the Awami League government. It was then said by the government that there are legal obstacles for Khaleda Zia to go abroad for treatment without the executive order. But the President released him on August 6, the day after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5. However, now Khaleda Zia needs the medical board's permission to go abroad for treatment. Now if the medical board approves his long 20-22 hour visit, he will be taken abroad.

When asked about taking Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment, on August 16, her medical board doctor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain told Dhaka Post that when madam will go abroad for better treatment depends on the permission of her medical board. So now the date is not finalized when he will go. Everything from his passport to take him abroad for treatment has been kept ready.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's private secretary ABM Abdus Sattar told Dhaka Post that we have to see whether the madam has the physical condition to undertake a 15-20 hour journey. I took him abroad for better treatment, but it was no use if his condition worsened after a long journey.

He said, only when the doctors give permission, we will go abroad for treatment. We have all the preparations. Now I am just waiting for the permission of the doctors.

When asked how Khaleda Zia's physical condition is now, ABM Abdus Sattar said that she is as before. His physical condition is quite good now.

A leader of the BNP Standing Committee, who did not wish to be named, said that when the party takes a decision, Madam will be taken abroad for treatment. Then visa will not be an obstacle. It will take maximum half an hour to get his visa. We have regular communication and good relations with various embassies.

A source of BNP said that last year 3 specialist doctors from the United States came to Bangladesh and performed an operation on Khaleda Zia's liver. So now he has an initial decision to take America after taking into consideration the previous doctors in getting treatment abroad.

The source also said that Khaleda Zia's passport was withheld by the Passport Directorate on various pretexts on the orders of the top level of the Awami League government for the past few years. Khaleda Zia was given a renewed Machine Readable Passport (MRP) on the night of her release on August 6.
