Khaleda Zia was acquitted in 5 cases

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been acquitted in five defamation cases. This order was given after the hearing of five cases in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam and Tofazzal Hossain on Tuesday morning (September 3).

BNP Chairperson's lawyer Masud Ahmed Talukder confirmed this information to the media. Before this, there were several defamation cases against Khaleda Zia at various times during the rule of Awami League.

A defamation case was filed against Khaleda Zia for making false statements about the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajib Wazed Joy while addressing a public meeting of the Nationalist Workers Party at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on May 1, 2016.

Besides, on May 3, 2016, Shariful Alam Chowdhury, president of Comilla's Muradnagar Upazila Committee of Amara Muktijoddha's children's organization, filed a defamation case against Khaleda Zia for 1 crore taka against the allegation that Joy's account has 300 million US dollars.

On August 30, 2016, Gazi Zahirul Islam, the former Joint General Secretary of Dhaka ists Union, filed a case in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, alleging that the celebration of Khaleda Zia's birthday on August 15 was 'fake'. The former prime minister was also acquitted from that case.

Then on December 31, 2016, Khaleda Zia said that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did not want the country's independence in a speech given at the Chhatra Dal's foundation anniversary ceremony in the capital's Engineers Institution auditorium. He wanted the Prime Ministership of Pakistan. The people of this country went to war after General Ziaur Rahman declared independence. In view of this statement, on January 25, 2017, Jannetri Parishad President AB Siddiqui filed a defamation case against Khaleda Zia in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
