Know the do's and don'ts to save fuel

The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has issued instructions on what to do and what needs to be done to save energy in the country in the context of the unstable global situation due to the war in the Middle East.

According to the instructions issued by the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources on Thursday, due to the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Middle East, there is a risk of disruption in the international energy supply system. In this situation, the government feels the need to take some pre-emptive measures to ensure national energy security and optimal utilization of energy resources.

In this context, government institutions, autonomous organizations, private institutions, commercial establishments and all citizens of the country have been urged to take some measures to save energy immediately.

In order to save on the use of natural gas, it has been said to raise awareness on the use of gas for cooking and other purposes, avoid unnecessary use of gas-powered appliances, check gas pipelines and burners regularly to prevent wastage due to leakage and refrain from using illegal gas.

Encouraging use of public transport instead of private vehicles and adopting car-pooling system where possible is suggested to save fuel. It has also been called to reduce fuel consumption by limiting unnecessary travel.

At the institutional level, government offices and institutions have been instructed to take necessary measures to ensure energy saving during office hours and after office hours. At the same time, commercial establishments have been told to take economical steps in energy consumption and avoid excess energy consumption.

On behalf of the Ministry, all concerned have been requested to take necessary measures to implement these instructions and take effective initiatives to raise public awareness. Everyone's cooperation has been sought to ensure national energy security.

US-Israel and Iran are at war. Due to this war, the supply system of the countries in the region, which are major sources of fuel oil and natural gas, has been disrupted. Several oil and gas fields have come under attack and production has been halted. This war risks being prolonged.
