Lara Trump Praises RFK Jr’s ‘Smart’ Ballot Move

Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, has praised Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for how he endorsed her father-in-law Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Speaking on her podcast The Right View, Lara Trump, wife to Donald Trump’s son Eric, said that she thought that Kennedy’s decision to end his Democrat-turned independent White House bid to support the former president was “incredible, fantastic, wonderful.”

Lara Trump also backed Kennedy’s plan to try to remove his name from swing state ballots, but remain in noncompetitive states, in order to help Trump beat Vice President Kamala Harris.

Among the 10 competitive states where Kennedy wanted to remove his name, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Michigan have denied his request and said he will stay on November’s ballot.

Discussing the “freaking epic” decision of Kennedy to end his 2024 campaign, Lara Trump said: “And then he went a step farther. He said, You know what? I’m going to suspend my campaign. I’m going pull my name off of the ballot in the battleground states.

“So in California, it may just erode a little away from Kamala Harris. I thought it was very smart. I thought it was very cool.”

Lara Trump added that Kennedy’s decision to endorse Trump in 2024, despite the pair clashing on certain policies, shows that Kennedy understands November’s election is “so much bigger than one person.”

“So much bigger than Donald Trump, so much bigger than RFK JR, it’s about keeping this country the great country that we’ve always been,” she added.

Kennedy’s office has been contacted for comment via email.

In his speech confirming he is dropping out of the race, Kennedy said he would work to remove his name from ballots in states where he could play a spoiler role and play an outsized role and determining who wins those races.

“In about 10 battleground states where my presence would be a spoiler, I’m going to remove my name, and I’ve already started that process and urge voters not to vote for me,” Kennedy said.

“Our polling consistently showed by staying on the ballot in the battleground states, I would likely hand the election over to the Democrats, with whom I disagree on the most existential issues.”

North Carolina rejected Kennedy’s request to take his name off the 2024 ballots as millions of ballots have already been printed ahead of early voting in the state.

“It would not be practical to reprint ballots that have already been printed and meet the state law deadline to start absentee voting,” the State Board of Elections said.

A spokesperson for the secretary of state’s office in Michigan told CBS News that Kennedy’s name would still appear on the ballot because “he cannot withdraw at this point.”

The Wisconsin Elections Commission also rejected Kennedy’s from The Badger State’s 2024 ballot at this late stage of the campaign.

According to Wisconsin law, “any person who files nomination papers and qualifies to appear on the ballot may not decline nomination. The name of that person shall appear upon the ballot except in case of death of the person.”
