Low pressure over Bay of Bengal, heavy rain forecast in parts

A low pressure has formed over the Bay of Bengal, which has created the possibility of heavy rain over 3 categories, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said. This information was reported in the weather forecast on Thursday (September 5) morning.

It said, a low pressure has formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal. The extension of the monsoon axis extends over Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and northern parts of Bangladesh to Assam. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay of Bengal.

Regarding the rainfall in the next 24 hours, it has been said that many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and some places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions may experience light to moderate rain with gusty winds or thunder. Along with this, there may be moderate to heavy rainfall at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country during this time.

Regarding Friday's (September 6) weather, many places in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and some places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds temporarily. Along with this, there may be moderate to heavy rainfall at some places in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.

Regarding Saturday's (September 7) weather, it has been said that there may be light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions. Along with this, there may be moderate heavy rainfall in some parts of the country. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.

According to the extended five-day weather forecast, rainfall trends may increase towards the end of this period.
