West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has again written to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for strict laws against rape. Mamata also posted the two-page letter written to Modi on Friday in the midst of the RG tax scandal on social media. News Anandabazar Online.
On August 22, the Chief Minister wrote the first letter to the Prime Minister regarding enforcement of strict anti-rape laws. At the beginning of Friday's letter, Mamata wrote reminding that, 'No reply has come yet to that letter written on a very sensitive matter.'
However, the copy of the letter written to Modi, which was sent to the Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, has received a reply, he said. But Mamata alleged that although she wrote in the first letter about the need for strict and exemplary punishment of the guilty by passing the bill in Parliament to prevent crimes like rape, in the reply letter sent by the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, there was no clear answer in that regard.
He wrote, 'The importance I have given to a very relevant, social issue is not given that importance in the traditional reply letter.'
In the first letter sent to the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister of West Bengal said that the punishment of the accused in the rape case could be completed within 15 days through the fast track court. Apart from this, the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare's reply to Modi did not mention the various steps taken by the state government to build a justice infrastructure for rape and sexual assault (special fast track courts, separate courts for POCSO cases, etc.) as mentioned in the first letter. Mamata said in the second letter.
