Netflix announced the news on Friday, indicating that the recent ulcer flare up that Tyson dealt with while on a flight is the reason behind the fight being postponed.

While recently traveling from Miami to Los Angeles, Tyson dealt with a medical scare that was later deemed to be an ulcer flare-up. This flare-up has now kept Tyson from being able to train fully, and will lead to the boxing match being put on hold.

During the flight in question, an announcement had come on the screens in front of passengers 30 minutes before the aircraft landed in Los Angeles, asking if there was a doctor on board. Thankfully, paramedics were quick on the scene and attended to the passenger who was identified as Tyson.

The other passengers waiting to exit the plane were delayed a reported 25 minutes due to medical professionals attending to Tyson.

After the medical scare was dealt with, Tyson appeared to be in good spirits. He even took a moment to address fans and reveal that he “felt 100 percent” and used the opportunity to take a shot at Paul.

Per a post on his personal X page, Tyson stated, “Now feeling 100 percent even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul.” Despite his feeling 100 percent, the ulcer flare-up he was dealing with has kept him from being able to fully train.

Tyson’s age was called into question plenty of times after this fight was announced. The former champion is currently 57 years old. Despite his training videos showcasing his skill still being at an elite level, boxing at such an old age could be dangerous.

There might have been concerns from the Texas Boxing Commission, too, after the report of Tyson’s medical scare became known. According to the official site for applying for combative sports contestants, “Contestants who are age 36 or older, must submit a report of favorable physical testing including, but not limited to, an EEG (electroencephalography), and an EKG (electrocardiogram).”

At least for now, the world will have to wait until June 7 to find out when Tyson vs. Paul will go down.
