MLB Power Rankings: Yankees Fall, Dodgers Rise in Wild Postseason Picture

Major League Baseball’s postseason is just over six weeks away, and no teams have separated themselves from the pack.

Zero teams are on pace for a 100-win season, which would be the first full season without a 100-game winner since 2014. Moreover, there’s no clear favorite to win the World Series, as up to 16 teams appear to have a real shot at being the last team standing at the end of the season.

Biggest Risers

Los Angeles Dodgers (+3)

The Dodgers are getting healthier and their lineup is looking more formidable by the day. Max Muncy and Tommy Edman returned to the lineup on Monday night, while Mookie Betts made his emphatic return last week. On top of that, Gavin Lux has emerged as one of baseball’s best hitters in the second half. Watch out for the Dodgers over these last six weeks as they play competitive baseball in a tight division race.

Biggest Fallers

Baltimore Orioles (-3)

The Orioles falling three spots in the rankings has less to do with them and more to do with the close race for MLB’s best record. The Brewers’ recent dominance had them jump into the top four, knocking the Orioles — who’ve lost three of four and five of eight — down a few spots.

Seattle Mariners (-3)

The Mariners have one of baseball’s best pitching staffs, which has kept them afloat this season. Unfortunately, they have one of baseball’s worst offenses and have now lost six of their last seven games. They’ve scored three or fewer runs in all six of those losses, and are suddenly at risk of missing the postseason altogether with the surging Astros looking to lock down the American League West.
