In the ever-unpredictable world of parenting, it’s often the most unexpected moments that leave the biggest impressions. From toddlers asking for the strangest things to their inexplicable love for obscure music, every day can bring a new surprise. This was precisely the case for Danielle Sloly who recently captured one of these moments on TikTok, where it quickly went viral.
In the video which has racked up over 362,000 views, Sloly, 32, (@itsmesloly) can be seen standing in her kitchen wearing Minion pajamas. The text overlaid on the clip reads, “mentally preparing for the day whilst my kids blast horror music at 8 am.” What follows next is hilarious, as her two-year-old son Lennox asks Alexa to play ‘Michael Myers.’
The chilling melody from the slasher film series Halloween is instantly recognizable to fans of the genre. But the mom-of-three from Birmingham, England, has no idea how Lennox is familiar with the 1978 film.
Sloly, who works in a care home, told Newsweek: “I don’t even know how he knows about that song. He has never watched the film and I don’t let my children watch anything that is not age-appropriate due to film restriction.”
In the video which has over 26,600 likes, Lennox can be seen gleefully jumping with his hands in the air, as though he’s listening to a lively pop tune.

The Halloween theme, composed by John Carpenter for the 1978 film, is now over 45 years old. The movie, which introduced the world to the infamous Michael Myers, remains a cornerstone of horror cinema, and its eerie score continues to send shivers down spines decades later.
The film’s plot involves Myers, a figure of pure evil, who murders his sister as a child and, years later, escapes from a mental hospital to kill again. He is rarely seen without his signature white-painted Captain Kirk mask, coveralls, and a chef’s knife. Since the original, nine more movies have been released as part of the franchise, with the most recent one debuting in 2022. This makes Lennox’s discovery of the theme song even more puzzling.
“Halloween is indeed my favorite season,” Sloly said, adding that Lennox’s request on August 23 didn’t surprise her too much.
“I wasn’t that shocked because when his brother Jett was three years old, he asked for a Chucky doll for Christmas,” she recounted. “I was gobsmacked! So that has eased me into it—now it is just normal for them to love spooky stuff.”
Scary songs are often played in the Sloly household at the children’s request, and when October arrives, she goes all out, adorning the house with spider webs, pumpkins, and elaborate costumes.
“I guess my love for the Halloween season has passed onto them,” she said, “They watch kid-friendly Halloween videos all year round but I don’t let them watch horrors.”

The TikTok clip, captioned, “Anyone elses two year old ask for Micheal Myers or just mine??” has sparked a conversation among other parents about their kids’ unusual musical preferences.
One user commented, “Mine like the Jaws music too – weird.”
Another shared, “Mate if I have to listen to 50 Cent’s ‘Candy Shop’ one more time, every Alexa I own is going out the window. Why are they like this?”
Sloly, relating to the struggle, replied, “They honestly drive me mad. How does he even know Michael Myers? Can’t say it’s a song I listen to hahaha.”
