Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has acquitted 8 people including top 6 leaders of BNP from money laundering charges. This information was revealed by ACC office sources on Saturday afternoon.
BNP leaders acquitted of money laundering charges are – Standing Committee members Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan, Ameer Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Mirza Abbas and BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu and Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohail.
Besides, Tabith Awal and Tafsir Awal, sons of former top leader M Morshed Khan and Abdul Awal Mintu, were acquitted.
ACC said that no documentary evidence was found against them to prosecute the case. Before the 11th parliamentary elections in 2018, the ACC started an investigation against them on allegations of unusual transactions as banks.
