A mother committed suicide by jumping under a moving train with her 12-year-old daughter in Jessore Sadar Upazila. A birthday cake, mobile phone and two vanity bags were found next to their bodies.
The incident took place at Shamshanghat area of ​​Poltadanga village of Churamankati union of Sadar upazila around 2.30 pm on Monday (March 25). The deceased are Lucky Begum (35) daughter of deceased Moksed Ali and his daughter Samia Akhtar Mim (12) of Barhaibatpur village near the spot. Various parts of the mother and daughter's body were shattered due to the impact of the train. Relatives said they lived in a rented house in Satmile Bazar.
Salim Hossain, SI of Sajiali police outpost said, Lucky Begum was separated from her husband. It is not known why he committed suicide. A birthday cake, mobile phone and two vanity bags were recovered from the body. After receiving the news, the railway police recovered the bodies of the two and sent them to the morgue.
Relatives said that the mother and daughter ate parts of the cake before death. Maybe Lucky Begum chose this path to get rid of the pain of being alone and the persecution of lack.
Eyewitnesses said that the woman was walking along the railway track with her daughter around 2:30 pm. When the Dhaka-bound Benapole Express train was passing this way, Lucky dragged his daughter and jumped under the train. Their bodies are torn apart. Later, the locals went ahead and found the body lying beside the railway line. A packet of half-eaten birthday cake, soft drinks and their two vanity bags lay next to the body. Then the mobile phone in the bag was taken out and the relatives were informed about the accident. On hearing the news, the woman's sister and brother-in-law came to the spot.
Lucky's younger sister Rozina Khatun said, 'Lucky went to Jessore city to see a doctor in the morning. In the afternoon, it was reported from his mobile phone that Lucky and his daughter died after being cut by the train. Lucky got married 13 years ago. Later, due to a family dispute, she was brought with her children from her first husband and married to a man named Ejazul Islam. A year ago, the husband also divorced. He promised to marry several times but did not do it again. During this time, his family was living in poverty. She was living alone and in poverty with her only daughter. He used to work as a seamstress. I used to market every now and then. Apa often talked about suicide. At last he did so.
Rozina's husband Jumman Ali said, 'I came to see their frozen bodies lying there. The girl liked cake. Studied in 6th standard. In fact, he chose this path due to lack in the family.
SI Manitosh Biswas, in-charge of Jessore Railway Police Outpost, said, 'The condition report of the body has been prepared and sent to Jessore Hospital morgue for post-mortem. However, why and for what reason the woman committed suicide with her daughter is still not known.
Jessore DB Police inspected the spot after receiving the information. DB SI Mofizul Islam said, after coming here and talking to the locals, I came to know that the mother committed suicide with her child to get rid of the persecution of loneliness and poverty. The matter is being investigated.
