Murder case against 1 thousand 20 people including Liton in Rajshahi


A murder case has been filed in connection with the death of Islami Chhatra Shibir leader Ali Raihan (28) who was shot during a movement to overthrow the government in Rajshahi.

Rana Islam (21), the younger brother of the deceased Ali Raihan, filed the case at Boalia Police Station of the city as the plaintiff on Monday night. Rana Islam's house is in Mangalpara village of Puthia upazila of Rajshahi.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalia police station in the city, SM Masud Parvez, confirmed the matter.

He said that Awami League presidium member and former city mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has been made the main accused in the case. A total of 50 people are named in the statement. In addition, 1,000 to 1,200 unidentified activists of Awami League and allied organizations have been charged.

Among the defendants named in the case are General Secretary of Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League Dabul Sarkar, his brother Zdu Sarkar, General Secretary of City Jubo League Taureed Al Masood Roni, Jubo League activist Zahirul Haque Rubel, former president of City Chhatra League Rocky Kumar Ghosh and Shafiquzzaman Shafiq; Former General Secretary Mahmudul Hasan Rajeev, current General Secretary Dr. Sirajum Mubeen Sabuj, Rajshahi College President Rashik Dutt, General Secretary Ashraful Islam Zafar, Rajshahi University General Secretary Asadullah-Hil Ghalib and former President Golam Kibria are named.

Besides, Rajshahi City Corporation Councilor Anwar Hossain Anar, Mahatab Uddin, Tauhidul Haque Sumon, Shahadat Hossain Shahu, Abdul Momin, Sariful Islam Babu, Nizam-ul-Azeem and Arman Ali, Jubo League leader Nahid Akhtar Nahan, Awami League leader Atiqur Rahman Kalu and Anwar Hossain Raja's name is in the list of accused.

Boalia police station officer in charge (OC) SM Masud Parvez said that the case was registered on Monday night. The accused have already covered up. Now an attempt will be made to arrest them.

Before the fall of the government on August 5, Ali Raihan, the organizing secretary of the Mahanagar Chhatrashibir, was shot dead in a clash between Awami League leaders and activists and the police in Alupatti area of ​​the city.

He then died on August 8 while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
