Murder case against 30 people including Sheikh Hasina-Kader in Rangpur

A murder case has been filed against 30 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in Rangpur. Apart from this, 100 to 150 people including district policemen have been named as unknown accused in the case.

On Sunday (August 25) afternoon, Nazmim Islam, the wife of the deceased fruit seller Merazul Islam, filed the case in the Metropolitan Magistrate Kotwali Administrative Court.

The court took cognizance of the case and ordered the Kotwali police station to conduct an investigation along with the previous case. Plaintiff's lawyer Shahidul Islam Rocket confirmed this information.

According to the case sources, during the anti-discrimination student movement, on the evening of July 19, fruit seller Merazul Islam was shot under the footover bridge in front of Rangpur City Corporation and the doctor on duty declared him dead when he was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

The other defendants in the case are former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, former commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police. Moniruzzaman, former DIG of Rangpur Range Abdul Baten, Additional Police Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Uttam Kumar Pal, Assistant Commissioner of Police Imran Hossain, Arifuzzaman Arif, District Superintendent of Police Md. Shahjahan, Additional Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam, Assistant Superintendent of Police Hossain. Raihan, Abu Ashraf Siddique, Nazrul Islam, Police Inspector Ataur Rahman and Abdur Rashid are authentic.

Apart from this, Rangpur City Corporation Councilor Rafiqul Islam, Shahadat Hossain, Harun-or-Rashid, Jahangir Alam Tota, Shahzada Arman, General Secretary of Metropolitan Volunteer League Ramzan Ali Tuhin, District Jubo League President Laxmin Chandra Das, General Secretary Mehdi Hasan Siddiqui Roni, Jubo League Leaders Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Awami League leader Nabi Ullah Panna, Jubo League activist Diesel Ahmed, former parliament member Nachima Zaman Bobby, Metropolitan Jubo League general secretary Murad Hossain, former Metropolitan Awami League general secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal have been accused.

Earlier, on August 18, his mother Ambia Begum filed a murder case in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kotwali Administrative Court, mentioning the names of 21 Metropolitan Police officers, City Corporation Councilors and Awami League leaders.
