In Kishoreganj, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan Papon and three other MPs of Kishoreganj have been charged with murder on Friday (August 30) at the Sadar police station. 200 to 300 people have been identified as unknown accused.
The case was filed by Motiur Rahman, a former vice president of Swachchavek Dal District Committee, a furniture trader in Rathkhala area of Kishoreganj city. Sadar Police Station OC Md. Golam Mustafa and Inspector (Investigation) Md. Shyamal Mia confirmed the information of the case. However, it is said that the leaders of Awami League have been accused in the incident of the death of two Awami League supporters.
Inspector Shyamal Miah said that Kishoreganj-3 Constituency MP Advocate Sohrab Uddin, Kishoreganj-4 Constituency MP Rezwan Ahmed Taufiq, Kishoreganj-5 Constituency MP Afzal Hossain and former IGP Kishoreganj-3 Constituency MP Noor Mohammad have also been accused in the case.
It has been mentioned in the statement of the case that after the procession of students and people came to the Awami League office area on August 4, the procession was attacked. Meanwhile, when two persons named Anjana and Zulkar Hossain of Jashodal entered the house of Awami League leader Syed Ashfakul Islam Titu in Kharampatti area, Awami League workers set the house on fire. Anjana and Jhulkar were burnt to death.
