MV Abdullah to new destination

'MV Abdullah', freed from Somali pirates, has left Al-Hamriya port in the United Arab Emirates. The ship will leave for the country with the goods from another port called Mina Saqr in Dubai.

Confirming the matter, Mehrul Karim, Chief Executive Officer of SR Shipping, a subsidiary of KSRM Group, said that on Saturday (April 27), the MV Abdullah, which was at the jetty from Al-Hamriya port in Dubai, left for the nearby Mina Saqqar port at around 8:00 p.m. after loading the goods.

After picking up some more goods there, Mina will leave Sakaar for the country on Sunday (April 28). He said that the ship will return to the country in the middle of May.

Earlier, MV Abdullah unloaded coal from Mozambique at the jetty of Al-Hamriya port in UAE. Earlier, on April 22 at 7:15 pm, MV Abdullah arrived at Al Hamria port in Dubai. At that time, the ambassador of the Bangladesh Embassy there, Mohammad Abu Zafar, along with senior officials and the officials of SR Shipping, which operated the ship, were present. On April 21 MV Abdullah reached the outer anchorage of that port.

On March 12, the Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah with 23 sailors was captured by pirates in the Indian Ocean. The sailors were held hostage at gunpoint in the Indian Ocean, 576 nautical miles off the country's coast, forcing the ship to take it to a pirate-controlled area off the coast of Somalia. At one point the bandits anchored the ship in a convenient place. After that, the ransom negotiations began. After 32 days on April 13, the ship was freed when the ransom dollars reached the pirates.
