Nascar: Denny Hamlin Receives Eye-Watering Penalty After Huge Rule Violation

NASCAR has handed down a severe L2-level penalty to Denny Hamlin and his No. 11 team, Joe Gibbs Racing, for a significant infringement of the engine inspection requirements after last week’s race in Michigan. The response from Toyota Racing Development, accountable for the engine’s compliance, was one of acceptance of full responsibility for the failure to have the engine inspected as per NASCAR’s requirements.

“As the engine builder for our partner NASCAR Cup Series teams, TRD is solely responsible for handling and disposition of all our engine pre and post-race,” David Wilson, President of TRD, said.
