The NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway was delayed because of the persistent rain on Sunday and only managed to run 51 of the 200 scheduled laps, before the inclement weather spurred a red flag that turned into a rescheduled continuation on Monday.

What happened in the first 51 laps?

Denny Hamlin started from pole position but quickly lost the lead of the race to Kyle Larson, who was later overtaken by Bubba Wallace. Hamlin attempted to reclaim his position on lap 38, however, he ended up spinning out at Turn 4 to draw the first caution of the race. In the end, Stage 1 went to Ryan Blaney with Chase Elliott, William Byron, Wallace, and Chris Buescher in tow.

Why was the FireKeepers Casino 400 postponed?

Shortly after Hamlin’s spin, the weather took a significant turn for the worse with extremely heavy rainfall. The officials were left with no alternative but to red-flag the event.

What time is the rescheduled FireKeepers Casino 400?

The resumption of the race will be on Monday, after 11 a.m. ET, if the weather permits.
