Nephew sentenced to death for killing aunt

The court has ordered the death penalty of the nephew who hacked his aunt to death for demanding money in Joypurhat.

District and Sessions Judge Senior Sessions Judge Noor Islam gave the verdict on Thursday (June 6) at noon.

Convicted Rakibul Hasan Titu is the son of Abu Sufian Akand of Khanjanpur Purbapara area of ​​Joypurhat Sadar Upazila.

According to the details of the case, Chachi Masuma Begum used to get Tk 2,000 as interest from accused Rakibul Hasan Titu. Although Titu returned that 2000 taka, there was almost a quarrel between them about another 1000 taka in interest. Due to this, on the morning of December 31, 2020, when Masuma Begum went to pull the rope to dry clothes in the courtyard of her house, the accused Titu cut her head, jaw and blood in various places. At that time, the locals came forward and arrested the killer and handed him over to the police.

Later, when she was taken to the district hospital, the doctor declared Masuma dead. In this incident, the victim's daughter, Beauty Begum, filed a murder case at Sadar Police Station as the plaintiff, and the court gave this verdict today.
