New President of BCB : Farooq Ahmed – Bangladesh Diplomat

Former captain and former chief selector Farooq Ahmed has been elected as the new president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Rumors in the sports arena for the past few days, Nazmul Hasan Papon is stepping down from the post of BCB president. And Papon can be replaced by former Tiger captain Farooq Ahmed. With Papon's official resignation today on Wednesday, those rumors have come true.
After the interim government assumed responsibility in the country, there is a massive reshuffle in various ministries, departments and directorates. This time there was a change in the top positions of BCB, the country's highest cricket control body.
Sources say that few cricket personalities were approached from Sports Advisor Asif Mahmood Sajeeb Bhuiyan's office to restructure the BCB. Farooq Ahmed was one of them.
Two former captains Aminul Islam and Khaled Masood and cricket coach and analyst Nazmul Abedin Fahim were in the race to become BCB president. BCB's former general secretary and ACC's former chief executive Syed Ashraful Haque's name was also discussed. But in the end, the responsibility of the top head of the cricket board fell on the shoulders of Farooq Ahmed.
It should be noted that Farooq Ahmed served as the chief selector of BCB for two terms before this. He served in the first term from 2003 to 2007, and in the second term from 2013 to 2016. In the second term, he resigned due to a dispute with the board regarding the election process.
