Not involved in politics, do not want to be involved: DU Vice-Chancellor

The new vice-chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said, I will take the university forward with everyone regardless of the party.

He made this comment after taking charge of the Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday.

He said, this university does not belong to any person or party. It is everyone's university. I am not affiliated with any political party, nor do I want to join. I don't want to get involved in any politics at this old age.

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan has said that the education program of Dhaka University (DU) will be started soon after removing the academic deadlock.

He said, I want to do something for the country, nation and university as a professional. I want to move forward with everyone regardless of party affiliation.

Professor Niaz said that the students are in emotional trauma after the long agitation. Counseling can be arranged if necessary so that they can get back to their healthy state after returning to the campus.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the students of Dhaka University have set an excellent example during the disaster. Such voluntary activities will be continued in the future. If necessary, we will see if such work can be included in the academic program.

When asked which issues the university will give importance to, he said, 'I will work on increasing research facilities and how to strengthen the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAS).'

Incidentally, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor ASM Maqsud Kamal resigned after failing to provide security to students on campus during the quota reform movement on August 10. Monday (August 26) Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was appointed as the 30th Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU).
