Pakistani Prime Minister's phone conversation with the Chief Adviser


Interim government chief advisor Professor Dr. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called and congratulated Muhammad Yunus and the government formed under his leadership.

In a phone conversation with the chief adviser on Friday (August 30), he expressed his best wishes and hoped that the cordiality between the two South Asian countries would translate into substantial cooperation for the benefit of their people. This information was given in a circular sent from the press wing of the Chief Adviser. Apart from this, a press release issued by the press wing of the Prime Minister's Office of Pakistan also confirmed the phone conversation between the two leaders.

Chief Adviser Professor Yunus thanked Prime Minister Sharif for the phone call and congratulatory message he received after taking oath as Bangladesh's Chief Adviser following the student-led revolution, the release said. The Chief Adviser thanked the Prime Minister of Pakistan for sending a message of sympathy and solidarity to the people of Pakistan for the flood victims of Bangladesh. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his interest in helping the people affected by the floods in the southern and southeastern parts of Bangladesh. He stressed the need to revive relations between the two countries, saying there was immense potential to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The Pakistani Prime Minister stressed the need to resume processes such as Foreign Secretary-level consultations and Joint Economic Commission between Dhaka and Islamabad. He also emphasized the need to revive the SAARC process.

The chief adviser said he is committed to reviving SAARC as an apex regional forum to strengthen ties among South Asian countries. He highlighted the need for holding regular SAARC summits and emphasized on organizing a short meeting between the Heads of State and Government of the SAARC countries as soon as possible. Dr. Yunus also called for strengthening economic ties and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
