The price of diesel is reduced by 1.25 paise per liter and the price of petrol and octane is reduced by 6 rupees. The new price will be effective from September 1 (after 12 noon), said Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources to the Interim Government.
He said this to reporters before inspecting the under-construction Rupsa 800 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant project located at Khalishpur in Khulna around 11:30 a.m. today.
The energy advisor said that the price of diesel has been reduced from Tk 106.75 to Tk 1.25 to Tk 105.25, octane price has been reduced from Tk 131 to Tk 6 to Tk 125 and petrol price has been reduced from Tk 127 to Tk 6 to Tk 121.
From June 1, diesel and kerosene are being sold at the rate of 106 taka 75 paisa per liter. Octane is selling at Tk 131 per liter and petrol at Tk 127 per liter.
Currently, diesel prices are three to three and a half dollars more per barrel than refined octane in the international market. Due to which the price of diesel will be reduced relatively less. It is known that today, August 27, the price of refined diesel per barrel in the international market is 91.25 US dollars. And the price of refined octane is 88 dollars.
