PK Halder's trial begins, S. Rumors of being involved with the Alam Group


Prashant Kumar Halder alias PK Halder, arrested on charges of embezzlement and smuggling of thousands of crores of rupees from Bangladesh, the trial process of other accused has started. On this day, the bail application of another accused in the case, Amana Sultana alias Sharmi Halder, was withdrawn by their lawyer Biswajit Manna. However, no reason was given. On the other hand, PK Halder's brother Pranesh Kumar Halder's bail application has been filed in Calcutta High Court. The bail application will be heard there on September 9.

Incidentally, on May 14, 2022, PK Halder was arrested from Rajarhat in West Bengal by India's investigative agency 'Enforcement Directorate' (ED). Besides, 5 more associates of PK Halder – his brother Pranesh Halder, Swapan Mistry alias Swapan Maitra, Uttam Mistry alias Uttam Maitra, Imam Hossain alias Eamon Halder and Amana Sultana alias Sharmi Halder were arrested in various parts of the state. Already, the hearing of the Money Laundering Act-2002 case against 6 accused including PK Haldar is going on in the City Sessions Court (Bankshal) of Kolkata. The five accused are in Kolkata's Presidency Jail as per the court order. The only female accused is in the female cell of the Alipore court.
