Porsche Celebrates 50 Years of 911 Turbo With Costly Special Edition

Fifty years ago, when the Porsche 911 Turbo was introduced, it was quickly postered on the wall of teenagers alongside Lamborghinis and Ferraris. Commemorating that debut, Porsche is premiering a new sports car during Monterey Car Week.

The 2025 Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years, which is based on the current 2025 911 Turbo S, is limited to 1,974 units in honor of the year the 911 Turbo debuted.

The 911 Turbo 50 Years features decals inspired by the 911 RSR Turbo, which was first shown at an auto show in Germany and served as the inspiration for what would become the 911 Turbo.

The anniversary model features heavy use of Turbonite, a color exclusive to the model, on inlays and on the fuel cap. Other defining features including Anthracite Grey paint on the rear wing, lower rear fascia, exterior mirror base and air intake.

The rear decklid grille has a turbocharger icon and the years “1974-2024” while the parking lights also project an image of a turbocharger icon on the ground.

The interior also pays homage to the ’70s with tartan-patterned door inserts and contrasting colors on the seatbelts and trim. Turbo 50 icons are spread across the cabin as well, and there is a plaque noting the limited number of models produced.

Buyers can add the available Heritage Design Package “50 Years Turbo” which includes more throwback touches including the base exterior paint color of Aventurine Green Metallic.

A new matte white decal kit is offered on the racing gumball with an individually selectable number between 0 and 99, the “50 Years Turbo” logo and Porsche model designation. These graphics can also be partially or completely deleted, Porsche noted in a press release about the vehicle.

Also with the Heritage Design Package, the hood and the wheel center caps of the Sport Classic Wheels are painted in silver and white using the historic Porsche crest from 1964. The interior comes with extended leather surfaces and more tartan pattern on the dashboard trim, glove compartment and the inlays of the seat backs.

As it is based on the 2025 911 Turbo S it houses a twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter six-cylinder engine delivering 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Porsche says it can accelerates to 60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. All-wheel drive is standard on all 911 Turbos.

New hardware on the special edition includes a sport exhaust system with black tailpipes, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sport suspension with a 10-mm lower ride height, a front-axle lift system, tinted LED headlights and black brake calipers.

The 2025 Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years costs $261,100 not including destination and handling fees, and is available to order now. Porsche says to expect the first models to reach dealerships in late 2024.
