They gathered in front of the administration building of the campus at Kohinoor Gate area of ββAshulia which started from Monday (September 2) morning. Earlier, they staged a protest in front of the administration building from 3 pm on Sunday.
The students' complaints, forming an investigation committee called the victims who complained and pressured them in various ways and forced them to withdraw the complaints raised in the name of Mizanur Rahman and his followers teachers and staff in the campus. Many times the students wanted to speak about these issues, but the administration did not speak to them. The campus was opened on August 31 after the fall of the government recently. The next day, the students started protesting with various demands.
Students demand, former advisor Dr. for the past few years. Mizanur Rahman did various irregularities. Because of this, the students protested to demand his resignation in November 2021, raising various allegations. He resigned in the face of two days of agitation. Even after his resignation, an inquiry committee was formed into the allegations leveled against him.
At this time, they raised various demands for the resignation of 14 teachers and employees, solving the housing crisis, recruitment of teachers, bringing transparency in the administrative activities of the campus and reorganizing the campus.
They also said that the students submitted a list with the names of the accused 14 teachers and staff to the authorities at night. In view of this, the authorities issued a notice. It is reported that the accused have been released in the face of the students' demands. However, the students rejected it and demanded that they should resign after admitting the allegations. Among them, Brigadier General Ziaul Haque, chairman of Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC), who is in charge of managing the campus, came to the institution and spoke to the students. However, the students have been continuing the movement since then (till 2:40 pm).
Sajjadul Islam Rakib, a fourth year student of knitter's textile department, said that the students wanted to inform the administration of their various small demands. But the authorities never paid any attention to their words. Rather, their guardians were being abused in various ways including harassment. Because of this, the students were forced to join the movement. We have demanded the resignation of all the teachers and staff involved in the irregularities. After they resign, we will present our demands for campus reconstruction to the authorities.
Nusrat Jahan, a third-year student of textile engineering, said eight people were kept in each small room. Two people have to stay in a small bed. Inside the student hall are the male teachers' quarters. Women teachers live there with their families. It destroys the personal privacy of women students. Parents or relatives cannot come. Even our classmates cannot enter the hall. We are threatened with expulsion from the hall for trivial incidents. Parents are insulted. In addition, in various minor incidents, parents are called and verbally abused about their character, comments about clothes and are subjected to mental torture. Because of these we are forced to go into the movement.
In this regard, Iqbal Reza, registrar of NITER, said that the 14 teachers and staff were dismissed on Sunday night in the face of the demands of the students. But the students did not accept it. They made many other demands. we are listening A decision will be taken in this regard.
