Rapoport shared the news, but the Rams announced on Friday.
Jackson is now the second Ram to be suspended for the season’s first two games. Jackson will join backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on that list as he was suspended for the first two games of the 2024 season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
No other details on the suspension were given.

Jackson signed a one-year restricted tender worth $4.89 million this offseason to keep him on the roster.
The 26-year-old has been sidelined recently due to an ankle injury, and he was projected to be the starting left tackle this season. The Rams will now likely turn to backup left tackle Joe Noteboom at the spot until Jackson is able to return in Week 3 for L.A.’s home opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
Jackson will enter his fourth season in the NFL, all with the Rams. The Canadian native went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft and signed as an undrafted free agent in May 2021. He made the Rams’ 53-man roster out of training camp and has been a viable piece to the offensive line since.
His rookie season was very limited, but due to team injuries, he became the starting right guard by Week 3 of the 2022 season. However, Jackson’s 2022 season was cut short after he developed blood clots and was placed on season-ending injured reserve in mid-November 2022.
According to PFF, Jackson received a 66.2 overall grade in the 2023 season after playing 968 offensive snaps, recording only three penalties, and allowing one sack.
Jackson is a former Iowa Hawkeye and was a standout before being an essential piece for the Rams. During his redshirt freshman season, he was named to the Big Ten Conference All-Freshman team and a freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America.
As a redshirt senior, he was named first-team All-Big Ten and a second-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.
As of 2023, Jackson has played in 27 games and started 21 of those games. The Rams will kick off their season on Sept. 8 against the Detroit Lions in an NFC Wild Card game rematch from Jan. 2024.
