Remal is crossing the coast with full power


Severe cyclone Remal is crossing the coast with full strength, said meteorologist Abul Kalam Mallick.

He said, this strong cyclone will start weakening after 10 am today Monday (May 27). Meanwhile, under the influence of Remal, rain has already started in various parts of the country including the capital.

Abul Kalam Mallik said these things in a briefing on Sunday midnight. He said that the cyclone hit Patuakhali with a maximum speed of 111 km around 1.30 pm on Sunday. At that time, the wind speed in Mongla was 80 km, Koira 83 km, Khepupara 91 km.

Abul Kalam Mallik said, due to the effect of Remal, there may be rain with strong wind across the country from morning. It may have an impact on Monday and Tuesday. And the cyclone will start weakening after 10 am on Monday.

According to the latest weather bulletin (17), Payra and Mongla seaports have been asked to show distress signal number 10 at this time. Besides, the coastal districts and islands around these ports will be covered by this disaster signal.

Cox's Bazar and Chittagong seaports have been asked to display distress signal number 9. Besides, the coastal districts and islands around these ports will be covered by this disaster signal.

The Meteorological Department has asked fishing boats in North Bay of Bengal and deep sea to remain in safe place till further instructions.
