Remittances came in at $2.22 billion in August

In the recent month of August, remittances of 222 million 13 million US dollars have arrived in the country. According to this, an average of 71.7 million dollars of remittances have arrived in the country every day. This information is known from the update of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (September 1).

It is said that 222 crore 13 lakh 20 thousand US dollar remittances have arrived in the country in August. And the remittance of 191 crore 37 lakh 70 thousand dollars came last July. Accordingly, the remittance flow increased in August.

In August, 383.46 million dollars came through the state-owned banks. Besides, 7 crore 81 lakh 20 thousand dollars came through specialized banks, 175 crore 55 lakh 40 thousand dollars through private banks and 47 lakh 10 thousand dollars through foreign sector banks.

Bangladesh Bank also said that from August 25 to 31, remittances of 50 million 29 lakh 90 thousand dollars have arrived in the country. From August 18 to 24, expatriates sent remittances to the country worth 584.1 million 10 thousand dollars. From August 11 to 17, remittances of 40 million 44 million 10 thousand dollars have arrived in the country.

Besides, 38 crore 71 lakh 20 thousand US dollars remittance came to the country from 4 to 10 August. And from August 1 to 3, expatriates sent remittances to the country worth 9.56 million 50 thousand dollars.

Earlier, after remittances of $253.86 million in June last year, the remittances in the first month of the current financial year came in at around $191 million, which was the lowest in the last 10 months. However, the situation began to normalize after the formation of the interim government.
