Road blockade demanding the arrest of former state minister and upazila chairman in Lalmonirhat

The anti-discrimination student movement has blocked the road to demand the arrest of former state minister Motahar Hossain and Hatibandha upazila parishad chairman of Lalminrahat Liaquat Hossain Bachchu, alleging that fishing is being done in murky water by spreading rumors of attacks on the Hindu community.

They blocked the Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway at Hatibandha Medical Junction in the district on Monday (August 19) noon. The students who took part in the protest march and sit-in called Motahar Hossain and Liaquat Hossain Bachchu as accomplices of the fascist dictatorial government, false litigants, communal instigators, traitors and corruptors and demanded the immediate resignation of Upazila Chairman Liaquat Hossain Bachchu and the immediate arrest of both, including former MP Motahar Hossain. At this time, hundreds of vehicles were stuck on both sides of the highway.

Before this, the central leaders of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front raised such allegations and demanded the arrest of former state minister Motahar Hossain and Hatibandha Upazila Parishad Chairman of Lalminirhat, Liakat Hossain Bachchu, in a harmony rally at Mission Cross, the heart of Lalmonirhat city. Speakers at the harmony rally alleged that some Awami League leaders, including former member of parliament Motahar Hossain and Hatibandha Upazila Parishad chairman Liakat Hossain Bachchu, spread rumors and gathered people of the Hindu community at the Indian border.

There, various Indian media spread false propaganda of attacks on minorities, vandalism and arson, and drama of emigration was created. The leaders of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front demanded the arrest of Motahar Hossain and Liakat Hossain Bachchu on the charge of spoiling the image of the country recently. BNP central committee organizing secretary and former deputy minister Asadul Habib Dulu was the chief guest at the gathering recently. District President Gurucharan Roy, Secretary Anindya Kumar Roy, Joint General Secretary Shivendra Nath Roy Shibu and others spoke in this.
