Rocket attack targeting police car in Pakistan, situation is dire – Bangladesh Diplomat


At least 11 police officers were killed in an attack by miscreants in Pakistan's Punjab province. Seven others are under treatment in hospital with serious injuries.

According to a report by the Pakistani newspaper 'Dawn', a police convoy went on a search operation in Mochka area of ​​Punjab province on Thursday. The two police vans in the convoy were returning from Rahim Yar Khan district. But as they deteriorated, they stood on the road. At that time, a rocket attack was carried out in an emergency.

The administration believes that local miscreants are involved in this incident.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif condemned the attack and signaled swift and stern action to crack down on miscreants in the area.

Nawaz Sharif's daughter, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also condemned the incident. He assured to punish the criminals severely.

A spokesperson of Punjab Police said that the number of casualties may increase. The miscreants fled the area after the attack. The injured police officers were quickly rescued and taken to a local hospital.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam ordered Punjab Police IG Usman Anwar to go to the spot and ensure the release of the police officers abducted by the miscreants.
