Russia will stand by Bangladesh in international affairs


Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Mantitsky said that Russia will stand by Bangladesh on the international stage. On Tuesday, the chief advisor of the interim government at the State Guest House, Yamuna. He said this while having a courtesy meeting with Muhammad Yunus.

In the meeting, he discussed matters of mutual interest, including the Rooppur nuclear power plant built in Bangladesh with technical and financial support from Russia and increasing support in food security, energy exploration and science and technology.
Chief advisor. Muhammad Yunus recalled the important role of Russia in the glorious liberation war of Bangladesh and the removal of mines from Chittagong port. He urged the Russian ambassador to increase the import of Bangladeshi products besides ready-made garments. Currently, 90 percent of Bangladesh's total exports to Russia are ready-made garments.

The chief adviser said, we have to diversify our exports. A large part of Bangladesh's food grains and fertilizers are imported from Russia, he said, adding that Russia is an important economic partner of Bangladesh.
Last year Bangladesh imported more than 2.3 million tons of wheat from Russia and this year the import amount has already crossed 2 million tons.
Russia's state-owned energy company Gazprom is interested in exploring five more gas wells on Vola Island and inside the country, the Russian ambassador said. He also informed that the construction work of Rooppur nuclear power plant is in the final stage and it may be commissioned next year. He said that Russia is interested in exporting LNG to Bangladesh. The Chief Adviser also emphasized on economic and educational cooperation and enhancing people-to-people relations between the two countries.
Meeting with Saudi Ambassador Interim government chief advisor Professor Dr. Essa Yusuf Essa Al Duhailan, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Muhammad Yunus. He made this meeting at Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna on Tuesday afternoon. The chief adviser's press wing confirmed the matter.
Besides, Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmad Maruf also paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday.
