In Ishwarganj, Mymensingh, a mentally unstable young man named Salim Mia was rescued from Milton Samaddar Child and Old Age Care in critical condition. Surgical scars were found on his abdomen.
His family members think that Salim's kidney may have been taken surgically. An ultrasound will clear it up. The recovered son of Hasim Uddin of Bripacashi village of Barahit union of Salim upazila.
According to family sources, about six months ago, Salim, who was mentally unstable, disappeared from home. After the disappearance, the family members did not find him even after a lot of searching. In the meantime, when the issue of child and old age care of Milton Samader was widely discussed through media and social media, the relatives saw Selim's picture in that ashram.
Then last Tuesday Selim's mother Rabia, cousin village police Abdur Rashid went to Dhaka Child and Old Age Care in search of Selim and identified him there. Later, with the help of Thana police, Salim was rescued from there in a serious condition and brought home.
Selim's mother Rabia Khatun said in a tearful voice, “My son's kidney has been taken away by those shelters.” At this time, the mother showed the surgical scar on Selim's stomach.
Suspecting about Selim's kidneys, his family took him to a private hospital named Immune in Ishwarganj for an ultrasonogram on Friday afternoon. However, it was not possible to do the test because of the pain in Selim's stomach. The family said that they will be tested later.
Meanwhile, when the word spread in the area that Selim's kidney had been taken from Milton Samaddar Ashram, the common people of the area rushed to Selim's house. Ishwarganj Thana Police went to Selim's house on Friday afternoon after receiving the news.
Ishwarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Majedur Rahman said, the family members have been asked to treat Selim and do some tests. After the test, it will be understood whether the kidney has been sold or not.
