The court has granted a five-day remand to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's private industry and investment advisor Salman F Rahman and former law minister Anisul Haque in the murder case of a youth named Sumon Sikder during the anti-discrimination student movement.
On Thursday (August 29), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nurul Huda Chowdhury granted their five-day remand. Besides, former MP Sadek Khan and army officer Ziaul Ahsan have been granted 5-day remand in the murder case of Rubel, a garment worker in Adabar.
The police produced them in the court at 7 o'clock in the morning. After that, for proper investigation of the case, Anisul and Salnan of Badda police station and Sadek and Ziaul of Adabar police station were requested to be remanded for ten days by the investigating officer of the case. After the hearing, the court granted them a 5-day remand.
On August 13, the police arrested Salman F Rahman and former law minister Anisul Haque from the capital's Sadarghat area while fleeing by water. The next day, the court granted a 10-day remand in the murder case of Salman F Rahman and Anisul Haque of Newmarket police station. On August 24, they were remanded for another 10 days in two separate murder cases of Lalbagh and Newmarket police stations.
On August 24, Sadek Khan was arrested from Nakhalpara area of ββthe capital. The next day, the court granted his four-day remand in the murder case of Mohammadpur police station. In the second phase, his 5-day remand was granted.
Ziaul Ahsan was arrested in the late night of August 15 from Khilkhet area of ββDhaka. The next day, the court granted his 8-day remand in a case of Newmarket police station. Then on August 24, the court remanded him for five days and another 10 days in two separate murder cases of Lalbagh and Newmarket police stations.
On July 19, during the anti-discrimination student movement, Badda was shot dead on Pragtismarani road on the north side of Fuji Tower. Suman Sikder. In this incident, his mother Masuma filed a murder case as the plaintiff. 179 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were accused in the case.
During the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5, hundreds of students including Rubel took out a protest march at the ring road area under Adabar police station around 11 am. At that time the police, Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Svechchasebak League, Sramik League, Tanti League, Krishak League, Matszajeevi League opened fire. Rubel was shot. When he was taken to a nearby hospital, the doctor on duty declared him brought dead. Rubel's father Rafiqul Islam filed the case at Adabar police station on the night of August 22.
