Shajahan Khan remanded for 7 days


The court has granted a seven-day remand to Awami League presidium member and former minister Shajahan Khan for questioning. He was ordered to be remanded in the murder case of Kishore Abdul Motalib (14) filed at the capital's Dhanmondi police station.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka gave this order on Friday afternoon.

Former shipping minister Shajahan Khan was brought to the CMM court in Dhaka under tight security after three o'clock this afternoon. After that, he was taken from the jail to the courtroom, wearing a helmet and a bulletproof jacket. Later, the police argued for the remand of Shajahan Khan. And a bail application was made seeking cancellation of the remand application from the accused. After hearing both sides, the court granted a seven-day remand to Shajahan Khan for questioning.

Note that Kishore Abdul Motalib participated in the anti-discrimination student movement. He was shot dead on August 4. Motalib's father Abdul Matin filed a murder case at Dhanmondi police station on August 26 as the plaintiff.

176 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Shajahan Khan were accused in that case. Shajahan Khan was arrested last night from Dhanmondi area of ​​the capital.

Shajahan Khan was the Member of Parliament for Madaripur-2 Constituency. He was first elected Member of Parliament as an independent candidate from this seat in 1986. He was elected Member of Parliament in 1991, 1996, 2001, 2008, 2014, 2018 and 2024 elections on the nomination of Awami League from the same seat.
