BGB arrested a smuggler named Minhajul Islam along with 16 gold bars weighing 1 kg 650 grams from West Uchna border of Panchbibi, Joypurhat while smuggling to India.
This information was informed in a press release on Wednesday afternoon. BGB said that the current market value of seized gold is Tk 1 crore 90 lakh 38 thousand 825.
The detained Minhajul Islam is a resident of West Uchna village of Panchbibi upazila.
Joypurhat-20 BGB battalion captain Lt. Colonel Mohammad Tanjilur Rahman Bhuiyan said that around 12 o'clock on Wednesday, BGB received secret information that smugglers were smuggling gold to India through Uchna border area of Panchbibi Upazila of Joypurhat. Later BGB conducted operations there. Meanwhile, a smuggler named Minhajul Islam was arrested with 16 gold bars weighing 1 kg 650 grams (159 3 annas). He also said that preparations are being made to file a case at PanchBB police station in this incident.
