An imam named Mujahidul Haq (35) has been accused of being removed from his job for talking about the oppression and persecution of the Awami League government in the Friday prayer sermon at Saltha in Faridpur.

The incident took place on August 9 at the Madhyapara Jame Masjid of Muratia village of Mazhardia union of the upazila. There has been widespread criticism on the social media Facebook since the news of Imam's dismissal.

The worshipers of Muratia village said that Swapan Matubbar, the president of the Madhyapara Jame Masjid management committee, is the son of Mazhardia Union Awami League president and UP chairman Afshar Matubbar. Being the son of an Awami League leader, he was elected president of the mosque. After the fall of Sheikh Hasina, Imam Mujahidul Haque of the mosque spoke about the oppression and torture of the Awami League government in the Friday prayer sermon on August 9 (Friday). At this time, the president's supporters interrupted the sermon. Later, after the prayer, the president kicked out the imam from the mosque.

On Tuesday (August 20) afternoon, the victim Imam Hafez Maulana Mujahidul Haque said, 'I have been imam in Muratia Madhyapara Jame Masjid for the last eight months. Let's talk about the consequences of the oppressor's oppression in the Friday prayer sermon on August 9. However, Swapan's father Mazhardia Union Awami League president and UP chairman Afshar Matubbar said, 'Imam sahib was speaking against Awami League without religious speech. Later he left after a drinking problem. We did not fire him. He left alone. Now we will have a good imam.'
