The private Stamford University's announcement of indefinite closure is temporary, the university authorities said. Classes will start from next Tuesday as per previous schedule.
Deputy Registrar of the University Aminul Islam Raju confirmed this information to the media on Saturday afternoon. He said that anti-discrimination students were agitating with various demands. In this situation, the university was declared closed for an indefinite period last Friday (August 23) night.
Later another notification said that the announcement of university closure is temporary. If the situation is normal, the university will be opened soon.
Aminul Islam said, the university will be closed tomorrow on Janmashtami holiday. The university will open next day from Tuesday. All classes will continue as per earlier schedule.
An official of the university said that anti-discrimination students have been agitating for several days demanding the resignation of the university's board of trustees. They raised claims of various irregularities and corruption against them. After this, the university authorities took such a decision in the circumstances.
