Superboard factory fire in Ghazaria is under control, but not completely extinguished

The Fire Service said that the fire at the Super Board factory in Ghazaria of Munshiganj is under control. However, six fire service units are still working. The remaining six units have been evacuated. The fire is under control but not completely extinguished.

On Sunday (March 24), when the fire broke out at around 1:30 p.m., two units of the fire service first tried to control the fire, but finally, the fire was brought under control after 12 midnight with the efforts of 12 units. There is still a fire burning in the plywood factory due to jute. However, there is no burning flame, said Rifat Mallik, station officer of Ghazaria unit of fire service.

Monday (March 25) around 10 o'clock in the morning, Rifat Mallik said, after 12 o'clock in the night, we were able to bring the fire under control. The fire is now fully under control. However, 6 units of fire service are still working. A small amount of fire is still burning in them due to combustible material including jute chalk inside. They must be broken up and put out the fire.

He also said, “We were very worried about this fire when there was a storm yesterday Sunday at 8 o'clock.” There was a danger of this fire spreading. We tried to control the fire. When asked about the source of the fire, he said that the details about the source are yet to be known and the amount of damage has not been determined yet.

He also said that around 1:30 PM on Sunday, the fire started from inside the godown where jute sand was stored in the super board factory owned by TK Group in Sikirgaon area of ​​Hossaindi Union of the upazila. It spread in no time. At this time, workers and locals tried to extinguish the fire. There were three trawlers loaded with jute sand in the river near the factory. At one point, the sparks of the factory fire fell on the trawler through the air. Three engine-driven trawlers including jute were destroyed.

Ghazaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kohinur Aktar said in the night that 6 units of Ghazaria, Narayanganj and Comilla Fire Service are working to put out the fire completely. The fire is not completely contained but fully under control. Along with this, it is being observed that the fire should not spread elsewhere from this factory. The entire matter is being taken care of by the upazila administration. Munshiganj Additional District Magistrate Md. The district administration has formed a five-member investigation committee headed by Masudur Rahman. They have been asked to submit their investigation report to the Deputy Commissioner within the next seven days.

Upazila Hossaindi Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Monirul Haque Mithu said that the fire fighting system in the factory was not proper. We warned them several times about this but they did not take it into consideration.

Ghazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rajib Khan said that although the fire has not completely stopped, it has started to come under control. However, the cause, how the fire started or the extent of the damage is not known.
