Take action against miscreants by defaming my name: Ishraq Hossain

He requested the administration to take action against those who have been defaming the name of Ishraq Hossain, a member of BNP's international affairs committee, who have been committing various crimes including extortion and occupation in various places including the capital. At the same time, he strongly protested against the media coverage of his name in extortion and occupation, especially the former (Acting) Chief Engineer of Dhaka South City Corporation, Ashikur Rahman, who was behind the forced reinstatement of his position.

In a statement given to the media on Thursday (September 5) afternoon, he said, action has been requested against those who have been doing various crimes including extortion and encroachment in various places including the capital by defaming my name.

In that statement, he also said that for the past few days, various media have been spreading misinformation about me, that a group or some miscreants are carrying out various criminal activities including extortion, encroachment and other crimes in different parts of the capital. In particular, Dhaka South City Corporation has been showing fear and intimidation to various markets, business establishments, extortion and various officials and employees of city buildings in the area. Even different media have been spreading the news that I am behind the forced reinstatement of Ashikur Rahman, the former (acting) chief engineer of Dhaka South City Corporation. I want to be clear about this, I have no involvement whatsoever in such misdeeds. A circle is doing such disinformation by defaming my name. I do not know those who are doing these criminal activities in my name. Besides, I specifically request the Dhaka South City Corporation administration to take legal action against those who are doing various types of criminal activities including encroachment, tender betting. If there is any proof of involvement of BNP leaders and activists in these activities, I also call for party action against them.

Engineer Ishraq also thanked the media workers for breaking his name in various places of the capital and informing about various misdeeds including extortion.
