Tariq Rahman's greetings to the countrymen on the 10th anniversary of BNP

Today Sunday (September 1) is the 46th anniversary of BNP. On the occasion of this day, acting chairman of the party, Tariq Rahman, greeted and congratulated the party's leaders and workers at all levels, well-wishers and countrymen.

In a message signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, Tariq Rahman said, today is a day of joy, enthusiasm and motivation for the Bangladeshi people. On this day in 1978, at an auspicious moment, former President Shahid Ziaur Rahman, the herald of independence, founded Bangladesh BNP. This beloved party of ours has played the role of a watchman in protecting the independence and sovereignty of the country. Numerous leaders and activists have sacrificed their lives for democracy in exile. BNP's uncompromising role on the streets under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia during the 9-year anti-military dictatorship movement in the 80s is a bright chapter in history. Thanks to his pioneering role, democracy was restored. I salute Begum Khaleda Zia.

He said, BNP will play a strong role in the coming days by devoting themselves to the service of the country while keeping the trust and faith of the people intact. I pay my deepest respect to all the leaders and workers of the party who have died since their birth and the one and half decade of Awami fascism and those who lost their lives recently in the bloody movement of the students and those who died in the recent floods in the eastern region.

'Now is the time to bring democracy back from exile. The self-sacrifice of the martyrs in the democratic movement for a century and a half will be worthwhile only if the rule of law, freedom of expression, press and judiciary can be ensured. On the auspicious occasion of the foundation anniversary, let us pledge to make Bangladesh a stable and peaceful civil rights protection country free from all evils including persecution. Never repeat the hideous horrors like disappearances, assassinations, extrajudicial killings, demonization of women and children, terrorism, extortion, corruption, money laundering across the country.

Tariq Rahman said that the main goal of BNP is to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country and re-establish the system of multi-party democracy.
