Bangladesh Bank has given Tk 23 crore to the Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare Fund to help flood victims in the North East and Eastern regions of the country. Out of this, 22 crore rupees have been given from Central Bank's 'Disaster Management and Social Responsibility' fund and a total of 23 crore rupees including 1 crore rupees equivalent to one day's basic salary of the bank's officers-employees.
On Tuesday (September 3), the Communication and Publication Department of Bangladesh Bank informed this information in a circular.
It is said in the circular that Bangladesh Bank Board of Directors' meeting held on August 28, considering the context of the overall flood situation in the country, decided to provide financial assistance to the flood victims.

It should be noted that 71 people have died in floods so far this year, according to the Disaster and Relief Ministry. Additional Secretary of the Ministry KM Ali Reza said that 71 people have died in the flood so far. 5 lakh 82 thousand 115 families are still under water in 68 upazilas of 11 districts affected by floods.
2 lakh 85 thousand 996 people are still sheltered in shelters due to floods in eastern and south-eastern parts of the country. Total cash assistance of Tk 4 crore 52 lakh has been allocated for the flood affected districts so far.
