The government will buy 30 thousand metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer through state contracts in the financial year 2023-24. On Tuesday (May 21), the cabinet committee meeting on government procurement has approved the proposal.
At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Department. Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that a proposal of the Ministry of Industry was to import 30 thousand metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from the United Arab Emirates through a state contract. This proposal is accepted.
The purchase price of imported fertilizer has been estimated at 95 crore 70 lakh 37 thousand 500 taka. 271.50 USD per metric ton. Its previous price was 284.17 USD.
Mahmudul Hossain Khan also said that the recommended bidder is Fertiglobe Distribution Limited of United Arab Emirates. Its implementing agency is Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).
