The maximum allocation in the budget is 10 sectors


FY 2024-25

The public administration sector has received the largest allocation out of a total of 7 lakh 97 thousand crore rupees in the proposed budget for the next fiscal year 2024-25. Then there are education and technology, transport and communication, local government and rural development, agriculture, social security and welfare sectors.

On Thursday afternoon, Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali presented the budget proposal for the financial year 2024-25 in the National Parliament.

The public administration sector has received the highest allocation in the 2024-25 budget sector-wise allocation. Based on management and development allocation, 22.1 percent of the total budget will be spent in this sector. A total allocation of Tk 1 lakh 75 thousand 774 crore has been proposed in this sector.

The education and technology sector is in the second position. 14 percent of the total budget will be spent in this sector, where 1 lakh 11 thousand 157 crores have been allocated.

The third position is the transport and communication sector. 10.4 percent of the budget has been allocated to this sector, which is 82 thousand 918 crores.

The fourth position is the local government and rural development sector. A total allocation of Tk 47 thousand 953 crore has been given in this sector.

Agriculture sector is in fifth position in this year's budget. The total expenditure of the budget has been estimated at 5.9 percent. A total allocation of Tk 47 thousand 332 crore has been given in this agriculture sector.

Apart from this, 5.4 percent for social security and welfare sector, 5.3 percent for defense sector, 5.2 percent for health sector, 4.2 percent for public order and security sector and 3.8 percent for energy and power sector have been proposed.

This year's (2024-25) budget is increasing by 4.6 percent over the 2023-24 fiscal year. This is the 53rd budget of the country, the 25th of the Awami League-led government and the first budget of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali.

The revenue target in the budget is five lakh 41 thousand crore taka, which is about taka 41 thousand crore more than last financial year. The Annual Development Program (ADP) has been estimated at Tk 265,000 crore, which was Tk 2,630,000 crore in the outgoing financial year.

In the new budget, the overall deficit has been estimated at two lakh 56 thousand crores, which is two lakh 83 thousand 785 crores in the revised budget of the outgoing financial year.

Note that the size of the proposed budget for the current fiscal year 2023-24 was Tk 7 lakh 61 thousand 785 crore. Later it was revised to Tk 7 lakh 14 thousand 418 crore.
