The Office of the Chief Adviser has confirmed that the warning letter spread on social media by the country's mainstream media using the name of anti-discrimination student movement is fake. A notice sent from the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser on Sunday said that a vested interest group is spreading such propaganda for personal gain.
Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, said that the warning letter about the media is fake. It has nothing to do with the anti-discrimination student movement.
The student leaders of the organization claim that a group has made a list of some media using this platform. Demands have been raised for non-cooperation with these media including not giving advertisements. Those who will cooperate with these media have been threatened with humiliation and dismissal.
It is said in the fake letter that the media which has not cooperated with us in the recent anti-discrimination student movement is being called upon not to give any kind of state sponsorship.
The letter published a list of 50 media including television and Bengali, English newspapers. A total of 18 electronic media including Channel I, 71 TV, ATN Bangla and 21 Bengali print media including Prothom Alo, Ittefaq, Janakantha, Bangladesh and 11 English print media including Daily Star, Daily Observer have been mentioned.
